Fiberglass Protection For Industrial Water Reclamation Systems Case Study
Custom Fiberglass Enclosures for Industrial Water Reclamation Systems
Water quality in industrial manufacturing plays a vital role in process efficiency and regulatory compliance. Protecting analytical and sampling systems is critical for achieving reliable results. This is especially true in electronics manufacturing, where water reclamation practices have a direct impact on production quality and sustainability goals.
Shelter Works recently partnered with Cogent, a multi-disciplinary engineering and infrastructure services provider, to design and deliver two custom-manufactured shelters. These enclosures were engineered for Cogent's client, who utilizes advanced water reclamation to support their electronics manufacturing processes.

Durable Protection in a Demanding Environment
Electronics manufacturing generates a substantial volume of process water that contains chemicals and particulate contaminants. To reclaim this water for reuse, the end user must carefully monitor and treat it to meet quality standards.
The Shelter Works fiberglass enclosures safeguard the sample stations that collect process water samples for analysis and the TOC Analyzers that assess water quality parameters by measuring the concentration of organic carbon within a sample. This helps operators adjust chemical dosing and system performance as needed. This equipment is essential for maintaining regulatory compliance, optimizing treatment processes, and minimizing water waste. Safeguarding it from environmental exposure, unauthorized access, and physical damage while ensuring operator access for maintenance and data retrieval is necessary to achieve reliable diagnostic results.
Engineered for Operational Efficiency and Durability

Shelter Works collaborated with Cogent to understand the client's operational and environmental requirements, resulting in shelters that were both functional and site-compliant.
Custom Features and Functional Design
Roll-Up Doors: Each shelter was equipped with roll-up doors instead of standard man doors. The customer preferred wider access points to the equipment than what standard doors offered. The larger door width facilitates easy movement of equipment and simplifies routine inspection and service tasks.
Removable Panels for Maintenance Access: Infrequent but essential analyzer maintenance is streamlined through custom removable panels. These panels provide access to critical system components while preserving the structural integrity and insulation of the enclosure during regular operation.
Exterior OSB Mounting: Designated walls on each shelter were reinforced with exterior-mounted oriented strand board (OSB). The extra material supports the secure installation of heavier equipment on the outside of the enclosures, including electrical panels for powering internal systems and external connections.
Integrated Safety and Utility Features: Each unit includes two bulkhead fittings designed to accommodate both water piping and electrical conduit. The bulkheads support inflow and outflow for process water, as well as electrical wiring to power analyzers, sensors, internal lighting, and heating systems. Each shelter has an externally mounted fire extinguisher, a necessary precaution due to the presence of treatment chemicals and general fire safety requirements in industrial zones.
Custom Manufacturing for Turnkey Solutions
The Shelter Works enclosures meet all operational, safety, and access points required for Cogent's water analysis equipment for industrial water reclamation. By custom-engineering the shelters to include features like roll-up doors, removable panels, and reinforced mounting walls, Shelter Works ensured that the client could maintain both efficiency and safety across their water treatment operations. These fiberglass enclosures are corrosion-resistant, low-maintenance, and built to withstand the rigors of industrial environments, making them a long-term asset for manufacturers committed to water sustainability and process integrity.
