Fiberglass Airstrip ShelterCase Study
Customized Fiberglass Airstrip Shelter Can Withstand Hurricane Force Winds
Shelter Works was commissioned to build 15 airport equipment shelters that would protect equipment out at the edge of some coastal runways. These custom-engineered shelters had to accommodate existing knee walls and would replace some non-compliant metal structures. Updated FAA regulations required that all the runway the buildings be frangible so that if struck by an airplane, the building would break apart (not the aircraft). This minimizes potential damage to the aircraft and was easy to accommodate with our unique fiberglass construction.
