Shelter Works Welcomes Stephen Berghold as Channel Manager for Water & Wastewater

Shelter Works is pleased to welcome Stephen Berghold as our new Channel Manager for Water & Wastewater. Stephen joined the Sales team in July and will manage and support Shelter Works’ national network of manufacturer representatives serving municipal and industrial water and wastewater markets.

In his new role, Stephen will work closely with representatives, engineers, contractors, and customers throughout the sales process. His responsibilities include supporting sales calls and trade shows, providing product training, assisting with quotes and initial fiberglass shelter designs, following up on existing opportunities, and working with representatives to get Shelter Works specified on future projects. His addition to the team also expands Shelter Works’ capacity to pursue new opportunities in the water and wastewater market and other targeted growth industries.

A St. Louis native, Stephen brings an extensive technical sales background to Shelter Works. His career has taken him from laboratory and medical sales, including neurosurgical instruments, implants, and operating room equipment, to industrial products used in construction, maintenance, and commercial applications. Along the way, he has worked with engineers, contractors, healthcare professionals, and other technical stakeholders. That experience taught him how to understand specifications, communicate with different audiences, build long-term partnerships, and stay persistent throughout complex sales cycles.

“Stephen was impressive with his desire to find a long-term fit for himself and his wish to use his background to show how he would be a great fit to manage our national network of representatives in our Water channel,” said John Swanson, Manager of Sales & Marketing. Stephen was similarly drawn to Shelter Works by the company’s stability and growth, its manufacturing operations, and its team-oriented culture. During his first year, he plans to deepen his knowledge of the water and wastewater industry, learn from his teammates, and become a valuable resource for Shelter Works representatives.

Outside of work, Stephen stays active through working out, playing pickleball, cooking, and volunteering. He serves as Vice President of the Concordia Turners Gymnastics Society Men’s Club and, as a lifelong St. Louisan, roots for the St. Louis Blues. His childhood dream was actually to take the ice himself as an NHL player. Given the choice between a beach and the mountains, he’ll take snow-covered mountains, and if he could catch a flight tomorrow, he’d be headed to Austria, where the hills are alive with the sound of music.

Stephen says his goal at Shelter Works is straightforward: build, support, and learn. He wants to strengthen relationships with Shelter Works’ representative groups, help them grow their business, and continue developing his knowledge of the processes behind each custom fiberglass enclosure. With his emphasis on communication, consistency, teamwork, and relationship building, Stephen is ready to help expand Shelter Works’ presence in the water and wastewater industry. Welcome to Shelter Works, Stephen!
